  2. My sweet Rodney, how I miss you! Fabulous, amazing, beautiful, kind, loving...all these words simply don't do you justice. I know you will surround all of us until we meet again. So, in Swahili I say to you, "Qua Herini"...farewell for now my friend.

  6. I'm a long-time client of Rodney's and devastated by the news. He was the kindest, gentlest soul. And, oh, did he have a sense of style. I'm shocked by the news and totally missing his sweet nature. What an irreplaceable. Not to mention a gifted artist.

  8. I ran into a friend with her wild head of amazing curls pouring out into the world and I said, "Who created that masterpiece?"
She said, "My Rodney." I said, "Take me to Your Rodney," who then became "My Rodney." He welcomed me and my adopted dog Maxie into Dop Dop and Teeluck. We talked of deep things and silly things; me sitting in his chair choked-up and laughing at once. Regal and humble does describe him beautifully. Isn't it amazing that a man can be "My Rodney" to so many people? Smile upon us beautiful man.

  9. I ran into a friend with her head of wild curls pouring out into the world. I asked, "Who created your masterpiece?" She said "My Rodney." I said, "Take me to Your Rodney." She did. And from that day on he became "My Rodney." He welcomed me and my adopted dog Maxie into Dop Dop and Teeluck. I sat in his chair laughing and crying as we talked of stories both silly and deep. Oh, does he know some secrets! Yes, he was regal and humble at once. And he was open, kind, and so very real. It's amazing how many people consider him "My Rodney." Smile upon us oh beautiful man.

  10. I just found out the news yesterday. I called the salon to get a referral for an LA stylist Rodney was going to send me. I am deeply saddened and still in shock. I have been going to Rodney for about 17 years! I moved to California in 1996 and never found a stylist in San Fransciso like Rodney. I tried, and tried, and eventually gave up. He was and is one of a kind. I always told my friends and family "there is no one like Rodney". He would cut hair with a finesse, with a knowledge of trends and fashion and curly hair; it was art. I would always get something special. My family lives in CT, so every time I go home (1-3 times a year), I go in and get a haircut with Rodney in NYC. He was my 1st stop in the city, my 1st friend to visit. We always would talk. really talk. He would never forget to ask me how my parents are doing. We would share relationship, love, life and travel stories. I spent most of last year in South America and was planning to back to Brazil for New Years. Rodney loved Brazil too and completely encouraged me to go back (in part to visit a friend in Rio). I can almost still hear his laugh and see his smile as he said, "Hey, I would go back too for that too!". (I did go to Brazil for 3 weeks over New Years). The last couple of times I visited NY, Rodney said we have to get together for drinks or something outside of the salon. Unfortunately, we didn't manage it. I will always remember Rodney, my talented, sweet, model-like friend. it was always so easy to talk, to laugh, to really connect. I will truly miss you. I have another angel now. But I wasn't quite ready for you to be there. My thoughts and prayers go out to all family and friends...
